If you plan to stay in Sweden for more than twelve months, you must register with the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket). Upon registration, you will receive a so-called personal identification number, comparable to the Dutch BSN.

This personal identification number is important for many everyday matters in Sweden. For example, you’ll need it to open a bank account, sign up for subscriptions, receive your salary, and arrange healthcare.
